The Federal Drug Control Service started working with RPK in 2012. First, we were engaged to translate speeches and articles by the FDCS Director (mostly from Russian into English and Spanish). Later, we began providing interpretation at a number of events:
Our translators and interpreters had to acquire a working knowledge of a wide range of subjects, from politics and law to chemistry and medicine.
IDEC XXX
In June 2013, the XXX International Drug Enforcement Conference — a landmark event for the FDCS — took place in Moscow. The conference was co-organized by the Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation and its U.S. counterpart, the Drug Enforcement Administration. Over 500 heads of anti-drug agencies from 100 countries were in attendance, together with representatives of international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), BRICS, and others. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin opened the conference.
RPK provided translations of conference materials, as well as simultaneous and consecutive interpretation from/to Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. A total of 38 interpreters were engaged for the event. We also provided equipment for simultaneous interpretation into three languages in one of the conference halls.
Conference participants we given a sightseeing tour of Moscow, which included a visit to the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War at Poklonnaya Gora and the Tretyakov Gallery. Russian Translation Company provided English- and Spanish-speaking guides and tour-guide equipment for the guests.
African Dialogue
In July 2015 and March 2016, our interpreters had two exciting assignments. Four Russian—English and Russian—French conference interpreters were engaged to work at the FDCS events in Banjul (Gambia) and Durban (South Africa). Logistically speaking, these business trips involved more than simply booking tickets and accommodation — we also had to organize visas and yellow fever vaccines.
In April 2016, the Federal Drug Control Service was dissolved and its functions were handed over to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. Russian Translation Company was awarded a letter of commendation and a memorial emblem of the FDCS for its outstanding contributions, and some of its employees received medals «For Assistance to Drug Control Agencies.»
