Russian Translation Company’s working relationship with the Council of Europe began in 2011 with written translations for the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. In 2012, the company won a tender for the provision of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation services in Russia and the CIS. And in 2014, this collaboration was expanded to include written translation services and technical support for conferences.
Russian Translation Company has provided EN-RU, FR-RU, RU-EN, and RU-FR translations for the Council of Europe: educational materials; reports by the Commissioner for Human Rights; and project outlines and reports. The texts were typically of a sociopolitical or legal nature.
In addition, Russian Translation Company was a long-term provider of consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, technical support, and audio recording of conferences for the Council. We used professional infrared wireless language distribution systems from Bosch, as well as sound systems and ISO-certified simultaneous interpretation booths. For small-scale events and tours, we used radio equipment. Our staff at conferences always included a qualified engineer and technician in addition to interpreters.

The Council of Europe was established in 1949. Until 2022, it consisted of 47 states, including Russia (unlike the European Union, which people often confuse the Council of Europe with). The Council’s areas of interest include legal standards, democracy, human rights, the rule of law, and cultural interaction.
Life Online
When the world shut down in 2020, the Council of Europe started holding its events online. An additional tender was announced for the provision of remote simultaneous interpretation services, which Russian Translation Company duly won.
The Council of Europe in one of our most progressive clients in terms of supporting the rights of interpreters. The running time of online events is strictly regulated. Interpreters operate out of what is usually called a «hub» — a room equipped with simultaneous interpretation equipment and a rock-solid internet connection.
Russian Translation Company provided the Council of Europe with one of these hubs and special simultaneous interpretation software, specifically: Interprefy, Zoom, and our own proprietary simultaneous interpretation platform for online events. That said, face-to-face meetings were organized whenever possible.
From Valletta to Vladivostok
