The organizers of the Moscow International Education Salon contacted us through our former client, the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh), which served as a venue for the event./
And it must be said that the venue was not the easiest to operate in. As often happens with temporary structures in big pavilions, the conference rooms were small and not entirely soundproof. So, we couldn’t use more budget-friendly radio equipment that can be quickly installed and moved from one room to another if necessary. For this reason, we equipped most of the rooms with Bosch infrared equipment, while in some cases, when a room could not accommodate even a tabletop booth, the organizers opted for consecutive interpretation.
Moscow International Education Salon is a Russian exhibition and forum that brings together educational institutions, government bodies, businesses, and students and their families. It is held in a hybrid format, attracting over 200,000 visitors.
RPK sent 11 English—Russian and two German—Russian interpreters to the 2018 forum. The next year, the list of languages grew to include Arabic, Dari, English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish, and 17 of our interpreters worked at the event. Some even provided simultaneous interpretation at side events held by forum partners eNano and ExComm.
In 2020, the forum was cancelled due to COVID. And in 2021, the international component was cut almost completely: the organizers only requested simultaneous interpretation of a handful of lectures from English and German into Russian. But we still hope to resume our cooperation in future.
