Trade union leaders were so impressed with the performance of one of our in-house interpreters at an event that they signed a contract for comprehensive language support with RPK soon after. Turns out that showcasing the product is often the best kind of advertising!
The Eastern European Era
We started out translating materials from meetings of the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) from English and French. We were soon trusted with translating not only into Russian, but also into various Eastern European languages, including Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Estonian, Georgian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, and Slovenian.
However, the decision was later taken to let each country handle its own translations, so we continued to provide translations into Russian only.
The General Confederation of Trade Unions (GCTU) is an association of national and industrial trade unions of several countries. RPK works with its members, the International Confederation of Healthcare Workers’ Unions, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, and others.
Trade Union Meetings
Since 2009, Russian Translation Company has provided Russian>English and English>Russian conference interpretation services and infrared equipment for simultaneous interpretation at annual EPSU constituency meetings for Russia and Central Asia.
In 2010, RPK interpreters accompanied a Canadian trade union leader to the All-Russia Electric Trade Union (ARETU) meeting in Anapa. Since he was the only person listening in English, we used simple tour-guide equipment to provide simultaneous interpretation for him. This allowed the interpreters to sit to one side to avoid any discomfort for the audience while he moved around the room. And whenever he spoke, we provided consecutive interpretation for the Russian side.
Trade union meetings were included in the calendar of events held as part of Russia’s presidency in various international associations. In 2013, Russian Translation Company was called upon to organize English, French, Russian and Spanish interpretation at the L20 trade union meeting as part of the G20 agenda. In 2015, the company was engaged to provide Russian<>Chinese, Russian<>English and Russian<>Portuguese conference interpretation at a meeting held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Ufa.
In 2026, we provided simultaneous interpretation between Russian and Serbian, as well as relevant technical support at the Congress of the International Confederation of Healthcare Workers’ Unions.
